First Day of School! After a great Morning Meeting singing and signing our ROAR Song (Respect Yourself; Respect Others; Respect All Learning; Respect Property), I got to meet my first class of students. How fun seeing kids enter our library for the first time! Miss Amy and I have added a few seating arrangements, plants, and stuffed animals to tell students how WILD we are about reading. We also shared our goals for the year: Thinking, Creating, Sharing and Growing together. 3rd graders did a great job of showing what thinking looks like. We hope to see a lot of these light bulbs going on this year!
To build an environment together that lets us all do our best work, we looked at what our school ROAR rules might look like in our library classroom. Inspired by Peggy Rathmann's great picture book Officer Buckle and Gloria, we created our own ROAR stars. I am so impressed by how thoughtful students were as they thought about what kind of space we want to create for our learning this year. We'll proudly display our ROAR stars in the library to remind us of how to do our best work together. We're off and running!
