This book Smile is a true story. The author’s name is Raina Telgemeier and when she was in sixth grade she lost her two front teeth. I think Smile is a great book because the parts are really good! I think I want Smile to win for DCF book for 2011-2012 because I like this book so much I just want to read it again and again. I think this is a good book so I think you should read this book and vote on the book.

_ Spoiler alert! The Curse of the Titans has a lot of ups and downs. Percy, Grover, Annabeth and Thalia find the Angelos at a military academy. The have to fight a manticore principal. They all get away with the Hunters but... Annabeth is dead? That night Percy has a dream about Annabeth. He dreamed that Luke was in fog and Annabeth went to go save him and then the roof collapsed. Percy knew she was alive but didn’t know where to look. When two campers and three hunters go on a quest Percy knows he should go, but he wasn’t selected to go. The next day a hunter can’t go because of poison, Percy takes it as an opening to join the quest but he thought about the prophecy, “one will be lost in the land without rain.” Completely ignoring it he hops on his Pegasus and follows the camp bus. He sneaks into the group and they finally accept him into the quest. From there they put together all the clues and find the hiding place of Artemis and Annabeth. They go to the old Titan kingdom and fight Atlas, the guy who hold’s up the sky. He says that if the sky touches the ground it will destroy almost half of the world. They knew they couldn’t kill a Titan so they tricked him into going back into the prison that he made. They all go to Mount Olympus to the council of the gods. After that Athena says they should kill Percy because he is a threat! That is all I can tell you but you should read the first two books or else you will have no clue what anything means.
Mrs. Hayes' 4th graders have been enjoying reading Poppy by Avi. Here's a glog that tells us a little bit more about the author: (We can't wait to see the glogs our 4th graders create on their own using the glogster edu tool!) _ We recommend the book Smile. It is a comic book, for those who like comic books. It’s about a girl whose name is Riana and she loses her two front grown up teeth. She gets special braces when she is in sixth grade. She goes to seventh grade and she falls in love with a sixth grader. Her friends keep telling her that she likes a “tiny tot sixth grader.” That's all we're going to say. Hope you enjoy it!! Have a great time reading.
There's a quiet buzz in our library this morning. 4th graders from Mrs. Mancuso's class just arrived and are book shopping. It's nice to hear students talking about books, "you should read Hatchet, it's a really good book." Overheard: "Why do they shave the dog's legs like that?" referring to the Lowchen breed of dogs. "Who's your favorite character in Dark Life?" Students are recording their DCF books, collaborating on book reviews, commenting on classmate blog posts, browsing the shelves and baskets, and best of all... cozying up with a book, individually or in small groups, in the many spaces in our library learning center. A few students were so excited to share they got a bit loud, but they settled down nicely. I'm so proud of our students!

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is even more surprising then The Lighting Thief {book one}. He is first attacked by cannibals then Luke. If you read the first book you would know why Luke is attacking. While Grover went to find Pan it t urns out it was all a trick which is why all the satyrs died. Percy was getting telepathic messages from Grover witch is also how they find the gold fleece. The reason they need the fleece is because they need to heal Thalia’s tree {which goes a little too well.} Tyrus, Percy’s knew friend is a Cyclops. As soon as Percy finds out about Thalia’s tree being poisoned he goes right to Camp Half-Blood. When he gets there he figures out Chiron has been fired because they thought it was Chiron’s fault Thalia’s tree was poisoned. Percy disagrees with director D but he knows he can’t do anything about it. It gets a lot worse when a new guy from the underworld is hired to replace Chiron, and he’s not a very good replacement, not that director D cares. Hermes tries to get Percy to help Luke which he tries but as you would think failed. This is a very good book but even better if you read the first book! I suggest this book for ages 8 and up. _ I would like to talk about this book called The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger. A sixth grader, Tommy, is wondering if Origami Yoda is real so he can ask Yoda if he really can tell the future and can tell if if its right for Tommy to ask the pretty girl to dance. The other main characters are Dwight and Hannah. Will Tommy find out if Origami Yoda is REAL? Find out in The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda!
Photo credit: http://christinaluna.tumblr.com/post/3346580845/i-just-read-the-kids-book-the-strange-case-of The book The Fantastic Secret of Owen Jester is a book about a boy named Owen jester.
He has a nosy neighbor named Viola. And she is always sticking her nose in his business. He has a frog and Viola is telling him how to take care of him. The frogs name is Tooly. Owen is trying to build a cage for him but Viola is telling Owen how to build it. Owen's two best friends are Stumpy and Travis. I would suggest this book for you to read. Probably if I liked this book I think you would like it to. The reason I choose this book is because I had not read it before. So I thought I'd give it a try. If you decide to read this book I hope you like it. Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief is a book of surprises. Percy is a troubled kid that always gets in trouble. He's been kicked out of many boarding schools but then realizes that Yancy Academy is full of weird things. His best friend has goat legs and his teacher is half human half horse. His own mom has to get him to Camp Halfblood before Percy is caught. Camp Halfbood is a safe place for demi gods. Camp Halfblood has a magic shield around it so evil beasts can’t hurt any demi gods. Before he has to go to the underworld he must find three orbs that will teleport the holder where you need to go. He is also blamed of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. He is forced to go on a journey to prove he didn’t steal Zeus’s lighting rod before a war breaks out with the gods on the summer solstice. It all gets worse when his mother gets captured and brought down to the underworld and Hades won’t give Percy’s mom back until he has the lighting bolt. Percy must take on Hades strongest minions and get to Mount Olympus before the end of the world. Will Percy survive this journey? I recommend this book for grades three and up.
